Data We Collect

WhatMovie2Watch is designed to be privacy-first. We do not collect, store, or share any personal data. Specifically:

• No user accounts or registration required
• No cookies beyond your local theme preference (stored in your browser)
• No analytics or tracking scripts
• IP addresses are used only briefly, in memory, to prevent abuse (rate limiting). We do not store or log them ourselves; our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process them to deliver the site
• Your approximate country, derived from your connection, is used only to show streaming availability for your region and is not stored

Prompts and Searches

When you type a movie description, it is sent to our server and forwarded to Google Gemini for AI processing. Your prompts are processed in real-time and are never stored, logged, or used for any purpose other than generating your movie recommendations.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party APIs to provide movie data:

• TMDB (The Movie Database): Movie metadata, images, and streaming availability
• OMDb: Aggregated ratings from IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic
• Google Gemini: Natural language processing for interpreting user prompts
• Google Fonts: Loads the fonts used on this site from Google servers, which receive your IP address
• YouTube and TMDB image servers: Trailers and posters load directly from these services when displayed

These services may collect standard request data (such as IP addresses) as part of their normal operation. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

Local Storage

We use browser local storage solely to remember your theme preference (dark or light mode). This data never leaves your device.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
